LCA crime of the week wanted sex offender cold cases

In 1984 a group of local citizens and business people came together to form Crime Stoppers of Ouachita in Northeast Louisiana. We are a non-profit, volunteer organization. Over the years Crime Stoppers has been credited with providing information that has aided police in solving thousands of local crimes and recovering over $3,000,000 in stolen property. By financially rewarding tipsters and by providing three 24-hour, easily accessible ways for people to anonymously inform the police, Crime Stoppers removes the two main reasons individuals don’t report information about a crime: fear of retaliation and an unwillingness to get involved.

A Message From SGT Mark Johnson
Ouachita Parish Crime Stoppers Coordinator

Det. Craig HoneycuttI have been a Ouachita Parish resident for over 20 years, having come to work for the Monroe Police Department in 1994. I am a graduate of LaSalle High School in Olla La and a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. My law enforcement career includes service with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, United States Army-Military Police, Winnfield Police Department, and as a correctional officer.

While at the Monroe Police Department, I have served in the Patrol Division, Investigative Division (Detectives), Metro Narcotics Unit-FBI Joint Task Force, Training Division, and the Criminal Intervention Bureau (Jump Team). I am currently assigned to the Executive Division of the Monroe Police Department and supervise the Media Relations Unit and have served as the Crime Stopper Coordinator since January of 2013. I wish to acknowledge the detectives that have held this position prior to my tenure and thank them for the fine job and excellent program they have installed. Detective Jeff Gilbert, Detective Craig, Honeycutt, Detective Charles Roark, and Detective Dennis Wall are to be commended for their service and dedication to making Crime Stoppers of Ouachita a success. Crime Stoppers continues to serve as an important tool citizens can use to report, prevent, and solve crimes in the community while receiving cash rewards without fear of retaliation or revealing their identity in the legal system.
